Senior IT Systems Engineer – Corsham (SN13) – Permanent – Full Time

Salary: £45,000 - £65,000

We’re looking for a dependable, hands-on Senior IT Systems Engineer to help keep our secure environments running efficiently. From third-line issue resolution to contributing to infrastructure improvements and projects, this is a varied role with a strong focus on virtualisation and Windows Server technologies. How you’ll support us

You’ll provide reliable third-line support, resolving incidents and troubleshooting issues across our secure infrastructure. Day to day, you’ll maintain and administer Microsoft Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, while supporting and enhancing our VMware-based virtual infrastructure. You’ll also manage backup and recovery processes using Veeam, ensuring data resilience and business continuity. Part of your role will include keeping technical documentation up to date, and contributing to service stability through proactive maintenance, system improvements, and adherence to change control processes.

We’re expecting that you’ve done this role before, so you’ll know how to do it whilst spinning multiple plates:

Essential experience

  • Proven experience in server infrastructure support and administration
  • Solid knowledge of VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy

Desirable experience

  • Exposure to HP infrastructure (e.g. Synergy, OneView, SAN)
  • SharePoint 2016 support and administration
  • Familiarity with Windows Server roles such as DFS, DHCP, DNS, Clustering
  • Experience with Veeam backup and replication tools
  • Understanding of ITIL principles and service management
  • Basic Linux knowledge
