Global EHS Manager

Global Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Location: Mansfield site, Nottingham

Salary: Competitive

Contract: Permanent

We are looking for a Global Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to join our team!

The role is responsible for the strategic development, implementation and sustained ongoing delivery of the Global Environmental and Health & Safety Programs, and the associated supporting management systems. The position will lead on EHS across Mayborn’s factories and third party-warehouse locations, ensuring delivery of a consistent, ISO certified and best practice program at a global level.

This role has accountability for ensuring global EHS legislative compliance, EHS reporting and continuous improvement activities.

What you will be doing:

Global EHS Approach

  • Develop and implement the global H&S and Environmental strategies and KPIs.
  • Establish global standards (aligned to UK legislative requirements), policies, initiatives and risk management governance.
  • Ensure global EHS regulatory compliance.
  • Deliver a global audit program and risk prioritisation plans to drive continuous improvement.
  • Implement an effective EHS training program to build awareness and capability.
  • Lead on global EHS reporting and performance tracking, with the provision of executive updates.
  • Support home workers and remote working activities globally, through robust inductions, risk assessments and awareness activities.
  • Mentor, lead and support the EHS Managers / Supervisors across our factories, and the Facilities Manager.

Health and Safety Leadership

  • Drive a global safety-first culture to minimise harm and deliver zero lost time accidents.
  • Support accident investigations, ensuring effective root cause analysis and lesson learned to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensure effective controls are in place across all factories to identify hazards, control risks through assessments and to provide the necessary instruction through operating procedures.
  • Deliver effective change management through monitoring, review and safety campaigns.

Environmental Leadership

  • Drive climate action initiatives in relation to carbon, energy, waste, biodiversity and water conservation to support our Planet-care agenda.
  • Track and report on our scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
  • Establish effective partnerships and memberships to deliver environmental change activities.
  • Support environmental / climate change reporting requirements for our auditors, customers, etc, i.e., Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

Management Systems

  • Support the Business Systems Manager in the delivery of robust management systems, certification standards and audit programs in respect of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 13485, ISCC, SMETA and Business Continuity.
  • Maintain effective EHS Management Systems, with clear guidance, templates and processes for employees are all level to adhere to.

Performance Management

  • Own the global EHS budget (Opex/Capex) and ensure effective delivery of the EHS capital expenditure program to reduce risk.
  • Define and track KPIs for EHS performance; publish monthly dashboards, quarterly updates and annual performance reports.

People & Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Factory Managers, EHS Managers / Supervisors, Facilities Manager, HR etc.
  • Act as the primary advisor and point of contact for EHS-related matters.
  • Ensure an effective EHS meetings and communication schedule (monthly, quarterly) is in place to engage employees.
  • Work closely with the EHS Administrator to ensure that the Global EHS Team provides effective administrative and customer support, with timely responses to any internal or external enquiries.

What skills and experiences you’ll need to ace this job:

  • Progressive experience of EHS management gained within multi-site manufacturing environments.
  • H&S Qualification - NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum), NEBOSH National Diploma or working towards (preferred).
  • Environmental Qualification – ISEP Certificate in Sustainability and Environmental Management or similar (preferred).
  • ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 knowledge / auditor.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills; with ability to travel internationally.
  • Professional membership of IOSH and ISEP or equivalent.
