About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Prosthetist to join our existing team at Royal National Orthopedic Hospital (RNOH) in Stanmore.

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] have provided prosthetic services at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH)l since 2016 and it is one of [Employer hidden]’s many Prosthetic service contracts. The RNOH is the largest orthopaedic hospital in the UK and has an international reputation for excellence. Our patient demographic reflects this with caseloads made up of lower and upper limb amputees of all ages and activity levels (including veterans). [Employer hidden] provide high quality patient care and staff experience with a dynamic working environment where we fully support frontline staff. The RNOH has an onsite gait lab and CAD/CAM facility so there is the opportunity to be involved in research projects and writing papers for publication. Our onsite clinical & technical team has a mix of youth and experience and there is a highly engaged user group. We work closely with various regional and national clinical groups as well as BLESMA and the Limbless Association.

In this role you will develop close links with Technicians, Consultants, Management and Administration to ensure that clinical time is fully utilised, patient waiting lists and delivery times are effectively managed, all whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality and governance.

Your Responsibilities

  • Assess, measure, cast, fit, deliver, supply, review and adjust prostheses as required across a range of upper and lower amputation levels.
  • Cast and rectify models in a timely fashion using both traditional methods and CADCAM where appropriate.
  • Management of patient cases and treatment pathways. This will include patient expectation, ensuring the patient’s needs are respected and ensuring patients are informed throughout the process with clear explanations of proposed interventions.
  • Maintain good knowledge of available components and understand their function.
  • Working knowledge of Micro-processor knees and Multi articulation hands would be an advantage.
  • Work within the parameters of accepted "best practice" at all times. To ensure that all aspects of practice conform to clinical governance.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the most appropriate and effective treatment for patients.
  • Identify, in conjunction with the combined service Manager and other Prosthetic Staff, service developments and/or improvements to ensure efficient and effective use of resources.

What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, an excellent communicator and ensure that the patient care delivered meets the values of [Employer hidden] & RNOH but also the ever-evolving needs of the patients.

  • Qualified HCPC registered Prosthetist/Orthotist – Post-Graduate experience preferred, but all experience levels considered.
  • You will be able to undertake clinical assessment of complex patients, including patients with co-existing medical conditions, who are referred to the prosthetic department by consultants, GP`s and other allied health professionals.
