FULL DESCRIPTION

Based in Leicestershire, [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] provide bespoke case management and expert witness services for those who have sustained a spinal cord injury, amputation or other severe orthopaedic injuries. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly organised clinician to join our small but dedicated team as an Expert Witness.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Liaise with solicitors regarding their clients’ requirements.
  • Read medical expert reports and associated documentation relevant to each case.
  • Following detailed assessments of the clients’ needs, identify and cost care and/or rehabilitation needs, including equipment, therapy and transport needs, in the preparation of expert witness reports.
  • Complete follow-up work associated with these cases including attending case conferences, meetings of experts and giving evidence in court.
  • Keep up to date with each individual case through regular communication with solicitors.
  • Ensure that all work carried out consistently meets regulation requirements in accordance with all the associated regulatory bodies.
  • Be familiar with EWA policies and procedures.
  • Participate in career specific training, supervision and EWA study days to ensure continual professional

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • A minimum of 10 years professional experience as an occupational therapist, case manager or nurse which includes work with spinal cord injured individuals and work within the private industry.
  • Excellent report writing skills. Be able to present information accurately and logically and with conviction.
  • An eye for detail. Be organised, consistent and thorough.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain and justify opinions in a clear, credible, and confident manner, both verbally and written.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships with the client’s legal team, clinical professionals and EWA colleagues.
  • Be aware of the latest interventions as an expert in the field and demonstrate evidence based practice.
  • Be honest, open, sincere and hardworking, showing full commitment and care of the client’s case and as a team member at EWA.
