FULL DESCRIPTION

Want to build the characters, creatures and gear that bring a stylized fantasy world to life?

Description

As a Character Artist on RuneScape: Dragonwilds, you’ll create high-quality 3D character art across a wide variety of assets from player outfits and armour to weapons, creatures and other character-related props. This is a hands-on role for an artist who enjoys both craft and variety, and who can take assets from concept or base models through to polished, game-ready final assets.

What makes this opportunity stand out is the breadth of the work. Rather than focusing on a narrow slice of production, you’ll help shape a broad range of stylized character content that directly supports the look, feel and quality of the game

What you’ll be doing:

  • Create high-quality 3D character assets across creatures, humans, weapons and character-related props, helping shape the visual quality of the game
  • Produce stylized assets using tools such as ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter and Marmoset Toolbag
  • Implement assets into Unreal Engine, ensuring they are polished, performant and game-ready
  • Apply strong understanding of anatomy, form, structure, texturing, lighting, perspective and stylization to deliver appealing final artwork
  • Collaborate with Concept Artists, Animators and Rigging to ensure assets fit the game’s art style and work well in motion
  • Work with Content Developers and QA to ensure assets are correctly integrated and meet in-game quality standards
  • Partner with Tools Developers to troubleshoot and improve art pipelines and workflows
  • Contribute to maintaining and elevating the game’s visual style by working closely with the wider Art Team, Lead Character Artist and Art Directors

What we’re looking for:

  • Professional games industry experience, including work on at least one released title
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong sculpting and texturing skills in stylized character art created through a PBR pipeline
  • Portfolio showing a strong understanding of human and creature anatomy, alongside hard surface work
  • Strong understanding of art fundamentals, including light, shape, colour, form, silhouette and materials
  • Proven working knowledge of Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter and Photoshop
  • Experience creating and implementing character assets in Unreal Engine
  • Demonstrable experience creating game-ready assets suitable for rigging, skinning and animation, with clean mesh flow, efficient UVs and textures built with PBR principles
  • Good understanding of game development processes, with the ability to manage and prioritise work against deadlines
