FULL DESCRIPTION

Mechanical Engineer - Orkie (Freuchie)

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems, machinery, and production lines. Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimize downtime. Maintain conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other mechanical components. Ensure compliance with food safety, mechanical, and workplace safety standards. Support installation and commissioning of new or upgraded equipment. Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports. Collaborate with production and electrical teams to improve equipment reliability. Participate in shift work or on-call duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems, machinery, and production lines
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimize downtime
  • Maintain conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other mechanical components
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, mechanical, and workplace safety standards
  • Support installation and commissioning of new or upgraded equipment
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports
  • Collaborate with production and electrical teams to improve equipment reliability
  • Participate in shift work or on-call duties as required

Skills:

  • SVQ3 and HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in an industrial or food processing environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial machinery
  • Experience working with preventive maintenance programs and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong commitment to safety, hygiene, and food safety standards
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, or similar food safety systems

Shift Pattern

4 on 4 off, days and nights 06.00 - 18.00 and 18.00 - 06.00

Salary from: £36,376.00

Shift allowance: £10,912.80
