FULL DESCRIPTION
Engineering Manager - Reliability & Improvement - Balmalcolm
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be accountable for:
Reliability & Asset Strategy
- Development of site reliability strategy aligned to business objectives
- RCM / FMECA-led optimisation of PPM programmes
- Asset criticality assessment and risk-based maintenance planning
- Condition monitoring strategy and deployment
- Failure trend analysis and elimination of repeat breakdowns
Focused Improvement
- Leading structured RCA investigations
- Owning chronic loss elimination projects
- Driving OEE improvement initiatives
- Facilitating cross-functional improvement workshops
- Embedding root cause thinking across engineering and operations
CAPEX & Asset Lifecycle
- Development of engineering input into CAPEX master planning
- Business case development with ROI justification
- Technical specification and project governance
- Post-implementation performance validation
- Asset lifecycle planning and replacement strategy
Governance & Performance
- Engineering KPI ownership (MTBF, MTTR, compliance, cost, OEE)
- Reliability dashboards and data transparency
- Maintenance cost optimisation without increasing risk
- Supporting audit compliance (BRC, retailer, statutory)
What We’re Looking For
This role requires more than technical knowledge. It requires structured thinking and leadership.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical or Engineering discipline
- Proven experience in reliability, CI or asset improvement leadership
- Strong working knowledge of RCM, FMECA and RCA methodologies
- Experience developing risk-based PPM systems
- Experience contributing to or leading CAPEX projects
- Strong data analysis capability
- Credibility to influence both engineers and senior leadership
- Experience in Food or FMCG industry
