Job Summary

As a support worker, your main responsibility is to provide assistance and support to individuals who may have physical, mental, or emotional challenges. Please note that this job specification may vary depending on the specific needs and requirements of the organization or individuals you will be working with.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Assist with meal planning, preparation, and feeding if necessary.
  • Support individuals in their daily activities, such as household chores, shopping, or attending appointments.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Monitor and report any changes in the individual’s condition or behaviour.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to individuals.
  • Follow support plans and behaviour management strategies established by the team.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and records.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as healthcare providers or social workers, to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills.

Experience

  • Previous experience working with individuals with learning disabilities, mental health, or older individuals is preferred.
  • Familiarity with support plans and behaviour management strategies is an advantage.

Qualifications and Education

  • High school qualification or equivalent.
  • Additional certifications or training in areas such as first aid, medication administration, or behavioural management may be required.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
