Short-Term Power Analyst
We are seeking a highly analytical Short Term (Intraday) Power Analyst to join our client's London-based trading desk. The role will focus on providing real-time analytical support to European Power Traders, with primary coverage across Italy, France, Germany, Spain, and other key European markets. My client is looking to make numerous hires in this team. This is a fast-paced, data-driven role at the heart of the trading floor, requiring strong market intuition, technical expertise, and the ability to deliver actionable insights under tight time constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intraday analytical support to European power traders across multiple markets
- Monitor market fundamentals including load, generation, renewables, outages, and cross-border flows
- Build, maintain, and enhance short-term forecasting and pricing models
- Develop automated tools and dashboards to support trading decisions
- Analyse market behaviour, price movements, and intraday liquidity
- Work closely with traders to identify opportunities and manage short-term risk
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in short-term or intraday power markets
- Strong understanding of European power markets (Italy, France, Germany, Spain preferred)
- Advanced Python skills with experience building analytical tools, models, or automation
- Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, real-time trading environment
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
