Why this role?

As a Quant at [Employer hidden] you will join a highly skilled and experienced team answering a variety of complex sporting questions. You will work on building probabilistic models, the quality and evolution of which are central to the company’s success. You will find innovative ways of extracting information from various sporting and market data sources. Modelling and predicting sports outcomes is a uniquely challenging field, and you will have plenty of opportunities to use your experience, judgement and imagination to solve difficult problems.

Your skills

You should have a strong grounding in mathematics and/or statistics to degree level or higher. You should have experience with the typical Python stack (numpy, pandas etc.), R and other statistical software and be able to write high-quality, maintainable code. Whilst not an absolute requirement, some knowledge of sports or experience working with sporting data will be valuable. You will keep yourself up to date with best practice in the field and always be looking to find new skills and tools.

Your approach

Beyond your technical skills and experience you should be a strong critical thinker and problem solver. You should be rigorous and sceptical in your approach to data; creative and open-minded in searching for novel approaches and highly committed, taking ownership of your results. Our Quant teams are highly collaborative and work closely with other teams so cross-business communication skills are also highly valued.
