Senior Bioinformatics Engineer (bioXcelerate)
Join bioXcelerate at [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] as a Senior Bioinformatics Engineer. Build scalable genomics workflows, empower client teams, and accelerate drug discovery with cloud-native pipelines.
What you’ll do
- Develop and optimise bioinformatics workflows (Nextflow preferred) for large‑scale genomics/omics datasets.
- Build reproducible pipelines for HPC and cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Analyse genomic and multi‑omics data using Python, R and bash.
- Support study design, interpret results, and communicate insights to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across tools, systems, and data quality.
About you
- MSc or PhD‑equivalent in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistical Genetics or similar.
- Strong coding skills (Python, R, bash) and experience with WGS/WES or other omics datasets.
- Workflow experience (Nextflow, WDL, Snakemake, CWL).
- Comfortable in HPC and cloud environments; Git‑fluent.
- Confident communicator who thrives in collaborative, client‑facing work.
Bonus experience: Docker/Singularity, population genetics, MLOps, TREs, or consultancy delivery.
