CNC Metallic Machinist - Turning

Purpose of the Role

As a skilled Machinist at [Employer hidden], you’ll join a high‑performing team responsible for delivering precision‑engineered metallics that directly impact our performance on track. During the build season, you’ll set and operate multi‑axis machines to create complex parts used in our race cars, heritage vehicles, and pit equipment. You’ll play a key role in the fast‑paced challenge of building a new race car and shaping the next chapter of McLaren’s legendary history.

What you’ll Do

  • Manufacture precision‑machined components in line with engineering drawings and job pack instructions to meet schedules.
  • Set and operate several multi‑axis CNC machines across various controller types.
  • Confidently program parts online, fully or partially.
  • Maintain all associated tooling, inspection, and programming records.
  • Provide clear technical feedback to Senior Programmers and Manufacturing Engineers to support machining methods.
  • Work closely with Shift Leads to manage workflow, maximising output without compromising quality.
  • Inspect components to ensure Right First Time (RFT) quality and maintain detailed shift‑handover records.

Job requirements

What you’ll Bring

  • A proven track record as a skilled machinist, supported by a recognised Level 3 apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Experience setting and operating multi‑axis machining centres.
  • Background in machining small‑batch, high‑precision components, ideally within motorsport, aerospace, or similar demanding environments.
  • Previous on‑control programming experience.
  • Understanding of manufacturing systems and relevant software
