We are looking for a reliable and skilled Maintenance Person to join our team.
Responsibilities
- General Maintenance: Carry out routine inspections and maintenance of the building, equipment, and facilities. Perform minor repairs on plumbing, electrical systems, and appliances.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that the care home complies with health and safety regulations by regularly checking safety equipment (e.g., fire alarms, emergency lighting) and addressing any hazards promptly.
- Groundskeeping: Maintain the exterior areas, including gardens, walkways, and parking areas. Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal or leaf clearing.
- Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule to minimise downtime and costly repairs.
- Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests and ensure issues are resolved efficiently.
- Equipment Management: Keep an inventory of tools and maintenance supplies, and order replacements as needed.
- Liaison with Contractors: Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or major projects, ensuring work is completed to the required standards.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, inspections, and safety checks.
Experience
- Previous experience in a maintenance role, preferably within a care home or similar environment.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach to identifying and solving maintenance issues.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to care homes (desirable).
- Flexibility to work on a rotating on-call schedule for emergencies.
- Driving license
