The Key Account & Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through the development of new business opportunities and the management of strategic customer accounts. Purpose of Job: The Key Account & Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through the development of new business opportunities and the management of strategic customer accounts. The role focuses on strengthening relationships with key customers while identifying and securing new opportunities within the company’s core application sectors. Working closely with [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk]’s global sales subsidiary network, the role supports both the expansion of existing accounts and the acquisition of new customers. The position requires a proactive and target-driven individual capable of managing multiple priorities within a busy, deadline-driven environment. This role operates with an approximate 50:50 split between Account Management and Business Development activities.

Key Account Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact at [Employer hidden] for assigned key customer accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with strategic customers.
  • Conduct regular account reviews to identify risks, opportunities, and growth potential.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive engagement and support.
  • Support customer visits and meetings, often alongside the relevant sales subsidiary.

Business Development

  • Identify and target qualified opportunities within established application sectors.
  • Utilise internal databases and market intelligence to identify new prospects.
  • Work collaboratively with the global sales subsidiary network to secure new business.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer presentations.
  • Support marketing activities to identify and develop new leads and opportunities.

Sales Performance

  • Meet and exceed agreed sales targets in accordance with company business plans.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of new business opportunities.
  • Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and new markets.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and regular updates on sales performance.

Technical Sales & Customer Support

  • Generate technical specifications and commercial quotations for customer-specific applications.
  • Provide technical guidance to customers regarding appropriate product selection.
  • Deliver company, product, and application presentations to customers and distributors when required.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the [Employer hidden] product range and its applications.

Commercial Management & Reporting

  • Provide monthly sales reports and participate in sales meetings.
  • Monitor market activity and provide feedback on competitor activity and market trends.
  • Maintain accurate records within the company CRM system, including diary entries, quotations, and customer correspondence.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, project, and operational teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Facilitate communication between customers and internal departments during project development.
  • Support internal teams by providing relevant product and application knowledge where required.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend trade shows and industry events to promote company products and capabilities.
  • Provide on-the-job training to customer service teams and external sales colleagues when required.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively in all customer interactions.
  • Attend relevant training courses to maintain and develop technical and commercial knowledge.
  • Be flexible with working hours and travel requirements, including overnight stays where necessary.
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably required by the business.

Candidate Profile (Desirable but Not Essential) Education & Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Mechanical Engineering background.

Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of electric motors and drive systems, including:
  • AC and DC motors
  • Brushless DC (BLDC) motors
  • Inline and right-angle gearboxes
  • Knowledge of industrial applications and OEM integration.

Professional Skills

  • Technical sales experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into commercial proposals.
  • Experience working with customised products or engineered solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and build long-term relationships with customers.

Systems & Software

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using CRM and ERP systems, such as IFS or Priority, is advantageous.
