Job description

I have a requirment for an experienced Planning Manager to support delivery on a major expansion in Oxford, a landmark scheme set to deliver state-of-the-art science and research facilities. This is a unique opportunity to join a flagship, long-term project from an early stage and play a key role in shaping a development that will have a lasting impact on the UK’s innovation landscape.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the planning function across the project lifecycle, from pre-construction through to completion. You will develop, manage, and maintain detailed project programmes, ensuring alignment with key milestones and overall delivery strategy. Working closely with project, commercial, and design teams, you will monitor progress, identify risks and opportunities, and provide clear, accurate reporting to support decision-making.

This is for a candidate with a strong background in planning on major construction projects, ideally within complex and fast-paced environments. Experience in pharmaceutical or laboratory projects would be advantageous given the technical nature of the scheme, although individuals from high-rise commercial or large-scale fit-out backgrounds will also be considered. Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject is essential, along with a solid understanding of construction sequencing and programme management.

You will have experience working under NEC and/or JCT contracts, including programme management, change control, and delay analysis. The ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and to challenge and influence where required will be key to success in this position.

This is a site-based role, requiring attendance 5 days a week on site in Oxford, so you must be able to commit to this. In return, a competitive salary, strong long-term prospects, and the opportunity to be part of a high-performing team delivering a truly standout project.

If you are looking to take on a senior planning role on a major, high-profile development, I am keen to hear from you.
