Role: Service Charge Accountant

Proper Recruitment are proud to be supporting a successful and well-established independent property firm in North London with their search for an experienced Service Charge Accountant to join their growing Finance team, reporting directly into the Finance Manager Service Charge Accountant.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a service charge professional looking to take ownership of a varied and hands-on accounting role within a supportive and high-performing business.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing income and expenditure reports and supporting documentation for external accountants.
  • Liaising with external accountants to resolve queries and ensure accuracy.
  • Taking ownership of year-end service charge accounts and ensuring timely completion.
  • Assisting Property Managers with service charge budget reviews.
  • Raising periodic service charge demands and ad-hoc recharges to tenants.
  • Liaising with clients, tenants, suppliers, and other external parties to resolve queries.
  • Assisting with annual audits.
  • Supporting the collection of service charge arrears.
  • Preparing client reports and bank reconciliations.
  • Assisting with setting up new properties on systems and managing handovers.
  • Supporting ad-hoc projects within the Accounts team.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in Service Charge - Accounting (essential).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience using Qube MRI desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and support colleagues when required.

Salary:

- £35,000 – £45,000 per annum [DoE]
