Senior Counsel - Platform and Privacy (EU/UK)
We’re looking for a Senior Counsel to join [Employer hidden]’s Privacy and Platform Legal team in London! You’ll be joining a team responsible for AI, Cyber and Platform laws, and you’ll focus on digital legislation, with a particular focus on the DSA.
What You’ll Do:
- Be the in-timezone lead on all Digital Services Act matters for [Employer hidden], this includes ongoing compliance with the DSA, conducting Risk Assessments, and supporting our DSA Audit
- Travel to meet with regulators and other stakeholders to discuss DSA-related matters
- Work closely with Engineering, Product, and Design teams to support and advise on DSA product compliance matters
- Review engineering and design specifications for privacy-by-design requirements and legal compliance
- Analyze potential legal and safety risks and regulatory requirements for new products, services and technologies
- Work with legal and business colleagues to develop regulatory compliance and go to market strategies
- Help scale the legal organisation by developing technology-first processes, including through the use of AI, to support the fast-moving Engineering, Product, and Design teams
- Conduct trainings for engineers and other teams across the company on DSA and related safety and legal requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent legal and business judgment, with the ability to think strategically and creatively
- Strong understanding of the European digital legal landscape
- Strong subject matter expert on all things Platform and Privacy, including advising on in-depth DSA and GDPR-related matters
- Detail-oriented, business-friendly, and a phenomenal teammate, with an ability to accommodate tight deadlines
- Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders across the company on complex, multifaceted issues
- Experience working directly with engineers and product managers
- Comfortable mastering new areas of law and technology
Minimum Qualifications
- JD degree or foreign equivalent
- Active membership in at least on state bar or foreign equivalent
- 8+ years of experience practicing law
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience building positive relationships with regulators to achieve business goals and minimise risk
- Experience advising clients on U.S. and rest-of-world platform and privacy laws and regulations, including developing company-wide strategies for compliance across diverse jurisdictions and requirements
- Strong understanding of artificial intelligence and associated laws, including challenges and opportunities
- In-house experience counseling clients on safety, privacy and technology and platform-related matters.
