We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll operations while supporting colleagues across the organisation. You will be working within a remote team of payrollers supporting a specific business unit.

About The Role

  • Processing payroll for over 300 colleagues, including payment of salaries, commissions, overtime, bonuses, allowances, sickness, and unpaid leave.
  • Administer all statutory and voluntary deductions such as taxes, attachment of earnings orders, and third‑party benefit payments.
  • Process starters, leavers, and contractual changes, ensuring accurate pro‑rata calculations.
  • Oversee payroll tax tasks including issuing P45s and P60s, payrolling benefits, and monthly HMRC submissions.
  • Conduct payroll error checks and produce payroll reports for Finance as part of the pre‑commit process.
  • Ensure timely completion of HMRC filings post‑commit, liaising closely with ADP.
  • Respond promptly and sensitively to payroll queries, offering excellent colleague support.
  • Administer contributory pension schemes and salary sacrifice benefits (e.g., childcare vouchers, cycle‑to‑work, tech schemes).
  • Manage benefits in kind through payrolling.
  • Maintain compliance with legislation, HMRC requirements, and internal policies.
  • Keep accurate payroll records and generate required reports.
  • Work collaboratively with People, Finance, and IT teams to support smooth payroll operations.
  • Carry out National Minimum Wage checks and monitor compliance with hours worked.
  • Produce ad‑hoc payroll reports and ONS data submissions.
  • Manage the recovery of colleague overpayments.
  • Calculate average holiday overtime payments in line with regulations.

About You

  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll processes, HMRC legislation, and statutory requirements.
  • High accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information sensitively.

Beneficial:

  • Experience with ADP iHCM.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel, including formulas.
