Working hours: 44 per week - Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM & Tuesday & Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Job Introduction

We are looking for a dedicated Security Officer who holds SIA Door Supervisor licence to support the safe and effective operation of our Probation Delivery Unit. This role provides controlled entry screening, proactive risk monitoring and a calm, reassuring security presence for both staff and service users. Working with individuals under probation supervision many of whom may present complex, unpredictable, or high‑risk behaviour. You will play a crucial part in preventing prohibited items from entering the building and in supporting staff during incidents, interviews, and interventions.

Essential requirements

  • SIA Door Supervisor licence.
  • Demonstrable experience working within a high‑security environment.
  • Must be able to pass full security vetting and supply five years of checkable employment history.

What You'll do

  • Monitor behaviour in reception and waiting areas, identifying early signs of escalation or risk.
  • Respond swiftly to staff requests for assistance during interviews or incidents.
  • Support emergency procedures including evacuations, lockdowns, and medical emergencies.
  • Liaise with police and emergency services when required.
  • Manage all entry and exit points, ensuring only authorised POP (People on probation), visitors, and contractors enter the building.
  • Maintain accurate sign‑in records and challenge unauthorised access attempts.
  • Communicate calmly and respectfully with individuals who may have complex needs or emotional challenges.
  • Record searches, seizures, refusals, and incidents accurately and promptly.
  • Complete daily logs and equipment checks.
  • Report building or equipment issues immediately.
  • Comply with all HMPPS policies, safeguarding requirements, confidentiality rules, and risk assessments.
