The Maltings is a brand new 59-bed care home in Bridlington, East Yorkshire. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as we prepare to welcome our first residents. Care Assistant (Days / Nights)

Location: The Maltings, Bridlington, West Yorkshire
Hours: 42 hours per week
Salary: £14.00 per hour
Shift Pattern: Day shifts or Night shifts available

About the Role

We are looking for experienced Senior Care Assistants to lead and support our care teams at The Maltings. As a Senior Care Assistant, you will take charge of the care team during your shift, ensuring residents receive exceptional person-centred care whilst providing leadership and guidance to Care Assistants

Responsibilities

  • Professionally lead the care team during your shift, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient care is delivered
  • Provide leadership and support for care staff and act as a champion for residents' safety and dignity
  • Assist residents with medication, following current policies and procedures
  • Update and maintain care plans, ensuring they accurately reflect residents' needs
  • Conduct and document care and risk assessments
  • Assist with daily living activities and provide support for the care, emotional, and physical wellbeing of residents
  • Supervise care staff on a day-to-day basis and through formal supervision processes
  • Liaise with GPs and other health professionals to ensure residents receive appropriate medical and clinical support
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of all residents whilst encouraging a happy, homely atmosphere
  • Be knowledgeable about Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults policies and procedures
  • Ascertain training requirements of staff and provide advice on care delivery where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and communication systems
  • Carry out quality and support checks on care staff

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Care Assistant, ideally in a residential or nursing home setting
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (or willingness to work towards)
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of person-centred care principles
  • Understanding of CQC regulations and safeguarding procedures
  • Ability to administer medication competently
  • A caring nature with a genuine passion for supporting elderly people
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions
