Veterinary Surgeon

The [Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] Group in Kent is looking for a compassionate and motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team across our Medway Towns practices. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of an experienced, collaborative team where you can develop your clinical interests while enjoying a supportive and welcoming working environment and have an opportunity to make a practice your own and grow alongside it!

• Flexible and adaptable working hours, with a fair share of the weekend rota (1 in 3 Saturdays, consults only) and no out-of-hours • Work alongside a team of 11 experienced Veterinary Surgeons with a wide range of clinical interests including orthopaedics, internal medicine, ultrasonography, dermatology, soft tissue surgery and acupuncture • Opportunity to work sole charge some of the time, helping to reopen a practice, a fantastic chance to put your own stamp on the site and grow it back into a thriving, fully operational branch • Excellent facilities including surgical theatres, consult rooms, ultrasound, digital x-ray, endoscopy equipment and an in-house laboratory, with separate dog and cat wards • Flexible working options and protected admin time to support a healthy work-life balance • Enjoy excellent case variety, with opportunities to work cases up in-house • Discuss cases and treatment plans with owners, while also researching cases and booking non-routine surgeries or diagnostics • Strong links with local Cats Protection adoption centres (someone with an interest in charity or community work would therefore be a great fit) • Join a team with a real family feel, many of our colleagues have been with the practice for 30–40 years, reflecting the positive, supportive culture

At Warren House we are all about providing the highest standards of care to our patients and we are looking for a caring and compassionate Veterinary Surgeon to join our longstanding team. [Employer hidden] Surgery first opened in 1982 in Rochester and has since grown into a group of four small animal practices across the Medway Towns. The branches all have 2 to 3 consulting rooms, separate dog and cat wards, prep rooms, and sterile surgical theatres. Each branch also has its own clinical facilities so that we can offer in-house laboratory services, digital x-ray, and ultrasound facilities on all sites.

We also have endoscopy facilities across the group, and our vets have a vast array of special interests from orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery to dermatology and complementary therapies. We are happy to use the services of peripatetic specialists when needed, meaning our patients do not always need to travel to referral centres. We also actively support and encourage further study if this is something you wish to pursue.

We’re proud of our supportive leadership structure, there to support both clinical and non-clinical teams. This includes two Lead Vets across the group and dedicated nurse and client care leads at each site. Many of our colleagues have been with the practice for decades, reflecting the positive culture and strong sense of teamwork. Currently we have 11 Vets on the team, 14 RVNs, 2 PCAs and 2 student nurses making up the clinical team. We also have 18 Client Care team members across the group to support our practices. Our teams work across the whole group and support one another fully.

This role will primarily work between our Walderslade and High Halstow sites. Walderslade is currently consulting-only, although we are hoping to return the site to full clinical operations in the near future as we continue to grow the team. The Lordswood practice also works closely with the local Cats Protection adoption centre and has achieved the Cat Friendly Clinic Silver Award, with the team now supporting our other sites to achieve accreditation too.

Medway and the wider Kent area combines countryside, coast and excellent access to London. The area offers a great balance of character, history and convenience, with independent cafés, historic streets and riverside walks all on your doorstep. The area is also closely linked with Charles Dickens, who lived nearby and based several of his stories around the Medway towns.

Kent is often referred to as the “Garden of England”, with beautiful countryside, vineyards and coastal towns all within easy reach. The North Downs offers fantastic walking and cycling routes, while Bluewater Shopping Centre provides a wide range of retail, dining and leisure options.

High-speed rail connections also mean London can be reached in around 35–45 minutes, making this a great location for those who want countryside living with city access.

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon • A collaborative team player with strong communication skills • Confidence managing a varied first opinion caseload • Comfortable with occasional sole charge and helping to develop a practice • A proactive approach to case management and maintaining high clinical standards • Interest in further study, CPD or charity/community work (Cats Protection links are a bonus) • Minimum 3 -5 years UK small animal experience is preferred

Benefits - 5 weeks holiday + bank holidays + Birthday Leave - RCVS & VDS fees paid - CPD allowance and 4 days each year to attend events plus Linnaeus CPD Programme (including certificate holder level CPD) - Extensive free online Linnaeus CPD program - Career progression opportunities - Staff discount schemes - Life Assurance - Enhanced sickness pay - Enhanced equal family leave - E-car salary sacrifice scheme - Recruitment referral reward scheme - Wellness program including: - Employee assistance program - Eyecare voucher scheme - Free annual Flu jab - Cycle to work scheme
