Overview
[Employer hidden] is currently recruiting for an Electrical Technician position to join our growing team in Edinburgh (UK) on a permanent staff basis. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and small but evolving team in the delivery of water treatment, desalination and hydrogen projects. Our technology achieves the world’s lowest-ever rate of electricity consumption for water re-use and desalination.
The Role
The successful candidate will act as an Electrical Technician and have responsibility for assembly of electrical and mechanical products to the highest quality standards ensuring customer satisfaction and supporting of commissioning and operations for the engineering team. The Electrical Technician would enjoy hands-on activities such as assembly, commissioning, operation and maintenance of plants. We are looking for an individual with the drive and commitment to make a genuine difference to our performance on projects across the full life cycle, from pilot plant operations to full-scale commercial units assembly, to ensure that [Employer hidden] continues to offer the most sustainable and efficient water re-use and desalination technology. Applicants with strong technical and practical skills and relevant experience are welcome. At least 2-3 years of previous experience in a technician role will be required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the engineering team to deliver the production schedule, advising on timescales to enable meeting our clients’ requirements
- Working to company electrical safety rules, wiring regulations, best practice codes, RAMS and all other relevant documentation
- Accept incoming deliveries, check and unpack and store in the correct area of the workshop in a timely fashion. Report all incoming stock or any missing/damaged items to Head of Operations
- Provide job and condition reports, identifying correct method of rectifying faults
- Contribute where necessary to review of supplier specifications and quotations
- Participate in technical meetings and handle discussions with client engineers
- Co-ordinating site activities through close co-operation with the Head of operation and electrical supervisor
- Contribute to the Engineering team in plant build, maintenance, commissioning and operations
- Undertake tests on existing plants to ensure safe operations
- Execute electrical and mechanical installation activities within budget and schedule, as well as maintaining technical integrity of plants
Skills / Qualifications
- Relevant electrical qualification or HND is required for the role as well as being qualified to 18th edition wiring regulations
- Ability to scope electrical tasks across a wide range of differing applications and equipment types
- High level of troubleshooting capability relating to low and medium voltage equipment
- Able to assemble and commission a range of electrical apparatus
- Able to support the job planning process with detailed technical information on equipment, tooling and electrical materials
- A self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative
- Flexibility to comply with organisational dynamics and adaptable to operational changes
