Wellbeing Assistant

The role involves planning and organizing activities for residents, ensuring they are engaging and centered around their interests. The ideal candidate will be patient, kind, a team player, and passionate about helping others, with a background in care and good interpersonal skills.
Role description:
[Employer hidden] was our first Care Home and has been open to residents for over 40 years. It has a lovely homely feel and over the years has gained an excellent reputation for being one of the best care provisions for residents with Dementia.
[Employer hidden] is located in an ideal position within Southport on Queens Road; only minutes away from local amenities, Hesketh Park, and a short walk away from the town centre, train station and the famous shopping area of Lord Street and the sea front.
The Role
At [Employer hidden], we are searching for a new Wellbeing Assistant to join our team. You will be working with a team to help plan and organise activities for our residents, ensuring they are varied and centred around the resident’s interests. This is an ideal role for anyone wishing to progress their career as either a Well Being Coordinator or within a Managerial setting. A background in care is essential.
As a Wellbeing Assistant you will be:
- Ensuring that all activities are entertaining, motivating and engaging for our residents
- Implementing principles of Personal Life Stories to create a tailored approach to daily activities
- Liaising with the wider community, to encourage external participation with day to day living
- Expected at times, to be flexible, in order to accompany residents and families to events outside of your normal working hours
- Responsible for the accurate recording of residents participation and interaction
- Offering opportunities that reflect resident’s past interests to increase their wellbeing and create new experiences
- Spending time with residents to develop meaningful relationships
- Helping to plan and organise groups and one-to-one sessions in response to identified interests and requests
- Monitoring residents behavioural needs to identify potential triggers and resolutions
- Participating within handovers and meetings to share your findings and useful techniques

Your Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
- Been a Health Care Assistant
- Prior knowledge of dementia
- Good interpersonal skills
- A keen eye for detail
- The ability to use initiative
- Good time management skills
- A good understanding of Apple Mac products and social media
- A keen interest in or experience in any of the following areas;
- Music
- Arts and Crafts
- Photography
- Theatre
- Dance
- Knitting / Crochet
Qualifications
For this role a qualification with NAPA is preferred but not essential

*Pay will be determined on age, experience and qualifications. Your hourly rate will be reviewed again on the successful completion of your 6 month probationary period.
**Payable on completion of a successful 6 month probation. The employee that made the referral must also remain employed by us, in order to be eligible for the £50 Bonus.
