[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk], is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Thesis Supervisor (Principal and Secondary) to support students on their Professional Doctorate in Occupational Psychology. Joining Birkbeck's Business School, you will guide students through their research journey - supporting them from initial proposals through to the final thesis and preparation for the viva.

Professional Doctorate in Occupational Psychology Thesis Supervisor

Join our growing community of professionals and supervise the thesis stage two for our Professional Doctorate in Occupational Psychology.

As Thesis Supervisor, your duties will be to:

  • Supervise students’ research, including proposals, ethics submissions, data collection stages, and thesis drafts.
  • Provide regular feedback, academic guidance, and monthly contact with supervisees (hours depending on stage and supervisor role).
  • Support viva preparation, including mock examinations.
  • Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and integration of theory and practice.

Academic Contribution & Scholarship

  • Contribute to the development of learning materials and teaching approaches.
  • Engage in personal scholarship and professional development to maintain up‑to‑date subject knowledge.

Student Support

  • Provide sensitive, appropriate support to students, referring where necessary.
  • Act as a mentor and first point of contact for academic issues.

To succeed as Thesis Supervisor, you will be a committed, engaging professional with strong academic credentials and a passion for developing emerging practitioners in Occupational Psychology.

Ideally, you will be a Chartered Psychologist with a PhD, or Professional Doctorate (or equivalent), and this opportunity would build on your previous experience of successful doctoral supervision (Phd, ProfDoc or DBA).

You will have supervised at least one student to completion - to qualify as First Supervisor. Second supervisors may have other supervisory experience at MSc /MRes/MPhil levels.

If possible, you will be a member of the British Psychological Society’s Division of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, have a publication record associated with applied psychology, and be passionate about developing research in practice.

Salary and benefits

£26.68 per hour (pro-rated £44,247 to £50,379 per annum, FTE), Grade 7 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Contract:
