Sunday Afternoon Session for the Ladies in Supported Living

Be part of something special! Join our warm and welcoming Sunday afternoon sessions at a [Employer hidden] Supported Living residence for autistic adults and adults with a learning disability. Every Sunday from 5:00–6:15pm, volunteers help create a fun, vibrant space filled with laughter, creativity, and meaningful connection. We’re looking for a female volunteer who can come along each week, or even bring a friend to run the session together! It’s a lovely way to build friendships and make a real difference in a warm, relaxed environment. The sessions often reflect the interests of the ladies and usually have a Jewish cultural element. Activities in the past have included: - Baking (e.g. Chanukah cookies) - Bingo and games nights - Arts and crafts - Themed holiday activities Volunteer Tasks: - Plan and lead a fun, inclusive activity each week (we can help with ideas!) - Bring warmth, energy, and a friendly presence to the session - Collaborate with staff to ensure activities are appropriate and enjoyable - Support the group in participating and engaging with the session

By leading engaging, creative sessions each Sunday, you’ll help the women at Clara House build social connections, grow in confidence, and enjoy meaningful experiences that enhance their quality of life. Your involvement not only enriches their personal development but also helps foster a more inclusive and supportive community, celebrating the talents and potential of autistic individuals and individuals with a learning disability.

Organised and able to manage time effectively Reliable and committed to weekly sessions Comfortable leading activities and guiding others through tasks Strong interpersonal skills and good with people in social situations Warm, approachable, and able to engage with women with learning disabilities or autism DBS check required ([Employer hidden] will pay for and process this if needed) Creative ideas or programming skills are a bonus, but not essential! Previous experience with people with learning disabilities or autism is an advantage, but not necessary

A member of the Jewish Living Team will join you for the first few sessions to help you settle in, support your activity, and introduce you to the ladies. Before you begin, you’ll receive a short induction and have the chance to ask any questions. You’ll also complete a short online safeguarding training to help you feel fully prepared and confident in your role.

You’ll have the chance to build lasting connections, share your talents, and bring joy to others each week. A member of the Jewish Living Team will always be present to assist and provide support as needed, ensuring you feel confident and comfortable throughout. It’s a meaningful, social, and rewarding way to spend your Sunday afternoons!
