Garden volunteer
SKILLS
FULL DESCRIPTION
Garden volunteer
The Jewish Vegan Society (JVS)
Golders Green
What difference you will make
You will be helping build and develop our community and our veg garden and supporting other volunteers in developing their gardening and food growing skills.
What additional skills or experience you should have
We are looking for someone with some gardening and food growing experience, and who is happy to muck in and get their hands dirty! We also welcome volunteers who might not have this experience but would like to learn more about gardening and food growing to join our regular sessions which will be advertised on our website in April.
What training we will provide for you
As part of the role you will receive a JVS induction. The role will involve regular check ins with our Community and events manager and our lead garden volunteer facilitator. We see this role as mutual skill sharing.
What you will get out of volunteering for us
You will join a diverse and fun community of volunteers. Volunteers will be entitled to some free and/or reduced places on our events such as cooking sessions and friday night dinners. There is potential for this to be a creative role and for you to develop and run your own sessions, if this is of interest. If of interest, there is also the opportunity to run sessions with marginalised groups, such as people with mental health needs. Volunteers can take some of the veg home with them and also have priority for joining in the garden to plate cooking sessions.
Not sure which role suits you or need a little friendly help? Please contact Angie at [contact hidden] for London or Rebecca at [contact hidden] for Manchester.
