FULL DESCRIPTION

Volunteer Receptionist. Sidney Corob House, West Hampstead

• Opening the doors • Meeting and greeting visitors • Directing visitors to where they need to go. • Answering the phone, transferring calls, take messages over the phone and inform the right person or department • Overall basic reception duties • Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays. 9am -12pm • We are looking for a volunteer who is available for either one of more of the above slots. The volunteer must be able to volunteer at the same times weekly (excluding holidays and other commitments of which we are always understanding, and we are always able to be flexible).

• It is vital that we have the reception desk covered to welcome visitors and provide a warm and inviting welcome for all who come to the building • Visitors will be served promptly without having to wait • An extra pair of hands is always needed All of the above enable Sidney Corob House run smoothly and enables the team to be able to offer residents an incredible level of care and compassion

What additional skills or experience you should have

 Friendly demeaner and willingness to chat to residents who may come into the reception office from time to time  Confidently engage with a diverse range of people and enjoy helping others.  Excellent admin and communication skills - excel, dynamics and outlook savvy (desirable but not essential)  A strong understanding and of issues that affect people in later life and those who have suffered with Mental Health difficulties  Reliability, consistency and dependability.  Good conversational and listening skills with a clear speaking voice.  Patience, empathy and a non-judgemental attitude.  The ability to work independently but also stay within the role’s boundaries – recognising what should and shouldn’t be done and when to seek advice or report concerns.  Parking is available if required

Training is available so volunteers can carry out their roles to the highest professional standards, develop new skills, build confidence, make new friends and take on new and increasingly responsible tasks.
