Gardening and Allotments Volunteer
The role is to support the development of a gardening group with tenants at Pears Court retirement living in Sandringham. Working with the tenants to design, plan, plant, and maintain raised beds and allotments and to encourage and support tenants to get involved. You can volunteer to come in regularly once a week if you would like, or more or less – whatever works best for you!

Gardening and being outdoors in nature is a great way to promote well-being and you will have the opportunity to make an impact and connect with older people in your community
What additional skills or experience you should have
- An experienced gardener, preferably have (or used to have) an allotment
- Ability to explain and demonstrate clearly
- Confidently engage with a diverse range of people and enjoy helping others
- A strong understanding and of issues that affect people in later life
- Reliability, consistency, and dependability
- Good conversational and listening skills with a clear speaking voice
- Patience, empathy, and a non-judgemental attitude
- The ability to work independently but also stay within the role’s boundaries – recognising what should and shouldn’t be done and when to seek advice or report concerns
What training we will provide for you
