What You’ll Do:
As part of our maintenance team, you’ll:
- Keep our historic buildings, facilities, and grounds safe, functional, and welcoming.
- Carry out minor mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building repairs.
- Assist with event setup and takedown, including portable toilets, AV systems, signage, and barriers.
- Operate machinery such as cherry pickers, MEWPs, forklifts, tractors, ride-on mowers, and more (training provided).
- Support volunteers and contractors, ensuring tasks are completed safely and to high standards.
- Help prepare the site for extreme weather and maintain equipment like snow-clearing tools, grit, and salt.
- Keep workshops, storage, and compounds tidy and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Be part of the Museum’s first aid response team.
Who You Are:
- Experienced in maintenance tasks across plumbing, carpentry, painting, decorating, and general site upkeep.
- Confident working at height and comfortable using tools and machinery.
- Proactive, flexible, and ready to ‘get stuck in’ wherever needed.
- A team player with excellent communication skills, able to work with staff, volunteers, and the public.
- Holder of a full driving licence (forklift or cherry picker licence is an advantage; training available).
- Willing to undertake First Aid at Work certification if not already qualified.
