Job Description

[Employer hidden] has an opportunity for a Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations QA team, the Test Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing. Preparing samples, testing & reporting results within the department assignments and ensures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, monitor and measure each unique test and record all data onto our database
  • Ensure test samples are stored and handled correctly
  • Take part in test preparation by cutting, sizing, labelling and affixing samples
  • Assist with deliveries, sign in and booking in of samples.
  • Interpretation of internal and client requirements
  • Operating complex mechanical testing equipment
  • Maintaining accurate and systematic records
  • Performing other duties to fulfil the demands of the laboratory
  • Performing general duties in accordance with Element's internal procedures, Quality as well as Health and Safety system
  • Application of instrumentation and the setting up of complex data capture equipment
  • Report writing, data interpretation and analysis

Requirements

Skills / Qualifications - Educated to a good general standard including English and Math - Associates Degree level or equivalent in mechanical or materials science or another relevant materials related discipline - Practical, hands on experience - Experience of working within a mechanical testing environment is advantageous - An understanding of a recognized Quality Management Systems such as ISO 17025 is beneficial - Working knowledge of ASTM, ISO, or equivalent mechanical testing standards - Self motivated Test Technician with the ability to multi task, organize and work under the pressure of a busy commercial mechanical test laboratory - Excellent attention to detail - Strong written and verbal communication skills - A team player attitude - Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Other Skills and Abilities: - Possesses the ability to perform lower to intermediate complex testing. - Ability to work alone the majority of the work day; only requiring assistance for clarification or confirmation of test procedures. - Effectively manages time and practices accountability for the testing to be performed. - Ability to take testing projects from start to finish, completing each step properly. - Ability to hold team members and peer technicians accountable for the testing requirements. - Advanced ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required in accordance with customer specifications. - Ability to construct and maintain test fixtures and other laboratory equipment to ensure proper working order based on client needs. - Ability to maintain and repair equipment. - Ensures timely and accurate results with little supervision and technical input. - Be confident to perform lower to intermediate testing of projects (once trained) - Educated to a good standard - Have strong attention to detail, be analytical as well as having good written and verbal skills (can use a computer) - Priorities and coordinate a busy workload - Able to work alone at times and complete testing projects from start to finish
