About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, creative and independent mechanical engineer to boost our capabilities in rig design, equipment building and investigative testing. As part of our product design process, we have a broad range of needs in terms of custom fixturing and equipment. These may include prototype assembly fixtures, microfluidic test rigs, investigative test fixtures, electromechanically-actuated rigs, and more. The role primarily focuses on mechanical design, for which we would expect outstanding skill. Familiarity of a wide range of manufacturing methods, and the ability to design effectively for each, is a must. Being able to integrate electronics and pneumatics into designs is a bonus, though we have electronics and automation engineers to support where needed. A thorough understanding of test methods, investigative techniques and data analysis is also beneficial for this role, as it allows for vital activities such as rig validation and root cause analysis. Good documentation and communication skills are required for all roles at Sava, but critical for a senior role such as this one, which involves significant cross-team collaboration.

Past Experience
- No specific requirement on number of years of experience, but 5 years in industry in a relevant role is typical for this position - Track record of successful equipment, product or fixture design - Experience working with prototyping equipment (3D printers, laser cutters, rotary tools etc.) - Experience designing for a broad range of manufacturing methods (3D printing, machining, forming, stamping, etching, casting, moulding, frame-building etc.)
Preferred
- Basic understanding of electronics - Ability to use software for basic data analysis - Ability to carry out programming for microcontrollers (e.g. an Arduino-driven fixture) - Experience with optical inspection equipment (e.g. microscopes) - Experience leading workstreams, planning timelines and adhering to budgets - Experience working in regulated field (medical, automotive, aeronautical)
