Job Description
As a Band 6 MIU Practitioner, you will provide high-quality, autonomous care for patients attending the Minor Injuries Unit. You will assess, diagnose, treat, and discharge patients presenting with a wide range of minor injuries and minor illnesses.
Key Duties Include: Independently manage patients with minor injuries such as lacerations, fractures, sprains, burns, bites, head injuries, and wounds
Manage patients with minor illnesses such as infections, fevers, rashes, and respiratory conditions
Perform wound care, plastering, suturing, and other minor procedures
Take relevant clinical histories, carry out examinations, and make evidence-based decisions
Refer patients appropriately when required to other healthcare professionals or departments
Maintain accurate and timely documentation
Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to support safe, effective patient flow
Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and governance standards
Requirements
✅ Requirements: • NMC Registration as a Registered Nurse • Minimum Band 6 experience in a Minor Injuries or Urgent Care setting • Completion of accredited Minor Injury and Minor Illness modules as part of degree or post-registration training • Independent prescribing and/or non-medical prescribing desirable • Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills • Right to work in the UK
