Location: Stevenage
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000
Health & Safety Manager
The role will be primarily based at our Stevenage head office (approximately 70% office-based), with regular travel to sites (around 30%) to ensure compliance with regulations, conduct audits, and provide hands-on support to site teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and systems in line with current legislation and industry best practice.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring full compliance with HSE and CDM regulations.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, producing detailed reports with recommendations and corrective actions.
- Maintain and update health and safety documentation, including RAMS, COSHH assessments, and training records.
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and training sessions to operatives and site staff.
- Liaise with external bodies (e.g. HSE, local authorities) and act as the company’s competent health and safety person.
- Monitor and report on performance metrics and maintain continuous improvement across health and safety practices.
- Support project managers and directors in delivering safe and compliant construction and roofing operation
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (minimum). - TechIOSH membership (or working towards). - Proven experience in a health and safety role within the construction/roofing industry. • Strong knowledge of regulations, and construction site operations. - Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
