Job title: Psychology Graduate Support Worker
Age group: 4 roles across KS1 and KS2
Location: Near Earlsfield area of the vibrant South West London borough of Wandsworth
School:Wonderful primary school where you will work within a friendly and supportive team
Salary: Starting rate of £110 per day – further uplift in pay after 12 working weeks to £116 per day
Working Hours: 8.30am – 4pm
Job type: September start, full time, term time only, for the entire academic year Qualifications: Degree holder (Someone interested in a career within education/SEN or Mental Health)
You will support specific SEN students and will not be with one student the whole time – this is to promote independence in their children and discourage dependency on one person. This also gives you a bigger breadth of exposure of working with various SEN/EAL and SEMH needs.
They have a specialist resource base on site that specialises in supporting children with SEMH, that you will get some exposure to. It is the SENCO’s (a lovely lady who has been with the school over 3 years) , goal to integrate this base with mainstream classes next academic year. You would also receive more extensive training, should your longer term goal be to support more in this provision.
They treat all candidates on a long-term basis like their permanent staff in regard to CPD. This includes weekly training sessions with the SENCO on different strategies, and where relevant/possible, drop-in sessions within the MDT (multi-disciplinary team) such as their Occupational Therapist, Educational Psychologist and Speech and Language Therapist.
With the SENCO’s vision and plans for next year, she hopes that every year group will have someone (i.e you), once given training, to run SEMH interventions down the line.
Currently a WhoFoundWho candidate, who has been at the school the entire academic year and is an aspiring Educational Psychologist, has raved about the school, support and exposure gained.
The ideal Psychology Graduate Support Worker, will have some form of child related experience, however, if you are confident, resilient, empathetic, calm and collected under pressure and have a genuine passion for helping children overcome their barriers to learning, the school will consider you.
This Psychology Graduate Support Worker is perfect for those considering careers in teaching/psychology/counselling and therapy to name a few!
