Deputy SENCO (Maternity Cover)

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Deputy SENCO to join our supportive partner secondary school in Camden, Central London on a maternity cover contract until July 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving inclusion and ensuring students with SEND receive the support they need to thrive.

You will work closely with the Lead SENCO and Senior Leadership Team to manage key responsibilities including annual reviews, EHCP applications, pupil passports, and liaising with external stakeholders. You will also line-manage a group of Learning Support Assistants, contributing to the growth and impact of the wider SEN provision.

As a Deputy SENCO:

  • Hold QTS (teaching timetable negotiable).
  • Confident in stakeholder engagement, including parents, local authorities, and external professionals.
  • Knowledgeable in SEND processes: annual reviews, ECHNAs, EHCPs, and the SEN register.
  • Experienced in collaborating with teachers and TAs to implement Plan–Do–Review cycles.
  • Able to provide clear guidance and leadership when line-managing LSAs.

Qualifications Required:

  • A degree plus PGCE or equivalent, with UK QTS
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and inclusive practices
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Previous experience supporting SEN students within a school setting
  • Leadership or line management experience desirable
