FULL DESCRIPTION

Trainee Driver

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] has a training program for drivers. Applicants need a full EU driving license and be at least 21 years old (or 18 for minibuses). Training includes gaining a PCV license, passing theory and practical tests, and acquiring necessary skills.

Trainee Driver

[Employer hidden] has had great success over the years training its own drivers. Many drivers have come to us with a standard car licence and found themselves driving a full coach on the continent 12 months later! A short interview should be sufficient to see if you have the necessary skills to become a trainee driver.

What qualifications and experience will I need? You must hold a full EU driving licence and be aged at least 21 (or 18 to drive minibuses). If you have a full EU driving licence, we may take you on and train you to gain your PCV licence. You could also train independently to get a PCV licence by taking private lessons through a local training company. You can find licence application forms at your local Post Office.

You need to be examined by a doctor who will complete a form to say that you are medically fit for the road. Upon successful completion of your medical check you can apply for your provisional driving licence. You can do this by requesting a form from the DSA and then sending the completed version back along with your medical certificate form.

Once you have received your provisional licence you are ready to move onto the next stage; The PCV test.

The PCV test has changed recently. New entrants wanting a Vocational entitlement must obtain a Driver CPC initial qualification as well as PSV entitlement. You Must Pass the Following 4 Modules

  • Module 1 – Pass DSA PCV theory and hazard perception test
  • Module 2 – Pass the PCV case study theory exam
  • Module 3 – Pass the practical driving test
  • Module 4 – Pass the associated knowledge practical exam

PCV driver training normally lasts between one and six weeks.

What skills and knowledge will I need?

  • Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic regulations
  • A patient manner and responsible attitude
  • An understanding of health and safety issues
  • The ability to read traffic signs and follow instructions
  • Good customer service and clear communication skills
  • An assertive but polite approach to difficult passengers
  • Good geographical knowledge
