Installation & Commissioning Engineer
[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is looking for an Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join our Network Services division. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply and develop your installation skills across electrical and telecommunications equipment as part of the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear Project in Somerset. The role will initially be based out of our Dunball (Bridgwater) test facility, and will eventually be field-based requiring travel to and from site, as well as our Dunball facility. A full UK driving licence is essential.
What youll do
- Report to the Installation Manager and support the successful witnessing of project installations.
- Install and configure equipment under monitored conditions.
- Collaborate on-site with colleagues and third parties during the installation and commissioning of systems and networks.
- Assist in ensuring the quality of both passive and active installations.
- Collate test results from equipment and share them within the wider Installation & Commissioning team.
- Share responsibility for improving processes, introducing new ways of working, and driving continuous improvement across the project and warehouse facility.
- Promote a strong nuclear safety and quality culture, acting as a role model for [Employer hidden] and subcontractor partners.
- Install and commission equipment within the HPC site facility as part of a wider team.
- Pre-stage and configure non-passive equipment within the Dunball facility.
- Build, strip, package, and prepare equipment for delivery to site (DTS).
- Collaborate with third parties on-site to ensure right-first-time installation and commissioning.
- Witness and report on third-party installations, providing progress updates to the Installation Manager.
- Work closely with the Installation Manager, Supervisors, and Engineering & Procurement teams to maintain workflow and reporting templates.
- Report tooling and calibration requirements for site-based teams.
- Maintain high levels of health & safety awareness and report hazards as required.
- Consider health & safety risks as part of day-to-day work and minimise risk wherever practicable.
- Use IT systems to support progress reporting, site documentation, and asset management.
- Provide daily site progress updates to the Installation Manager.
- Ensure [Employer hidden] and project quality, health & safety, environmental, and security procedures are followed.
- Participate in team meetings, one-to-ones, and performance reviews.
Who you are
You are a proactive, safety-driven Installation & Commissioning Engineer with experience working in structured, regulated environments. You take pride in delivering high-quality work, value collaboration and clear communication, and are comfortable working on-site as a part of a wider project team. You demonstrate strong technical capability and a professional attitude, with safety – particularly nuclear safety – always your first priority.
Key requirements
- Experience installing and commissioning security systems, telecoms assets, and networks
- Experience using computer-based configuration tools and programmes
- CITB Health & Safety (Operative) qualification CSCS / ECS
- Demonstrated commitment to employee development and continuous improvement
- Ability to build trusted relationships with customers, colleagues, and partners
- Passionate, enthusiastic, and motivated, with the ability to positively influence others

- Ideally located within commuting distance of Dunball / Bridgwater
- Willing to spend significant time at the Dunball test facility initially, transitioning to the HPC site
