JW Lees are looking for an Area Manager to join our Inns and Hotels division. Looking after a selection of destination sites, many with guest accommodation, this role will drive exceptional performance by recruiting, training, and supporting the best people, creating growth, and supporting our General Managers and improving the overall performance of the area.

The Role & Responsibilities

  • Build effective relationships with all key stakeholders across the business
  • Responsible for the overall performance of the area
  • Working with the General Managers to drive the profitable sales growth of the area
  • Conduct regular appraisals and identify development opportunities with your team
  • Undertake regular competitor analysis to help identify areas of improvement and business opportunity
  • Conduct regular business reviews with General Managers
  • Complete Area Manager audits in a timely manner
  • Review all capex expenditure and make recommendations for development opportunities
  • Undertake monthly area meetings that are vibrant and engaging
  • Coach and develop the leadership team in the area
  • Regular weekend and peak trading visits
  • Monitor and action guest reviews, complaints, and compliments
  • Coordinate new opening and major refurbs
  • Develop a business plan for each business
  • Assist in setting the budgets for each I&H
  • Assist in pricing strategy of menus and drinks
  • Monitor the dynamic daily pricing of bedrooms across the Area to maximise rooms revenue
  • Monitor labour controls
  • Performance manage where appropriate in a timely fashion

The Person

  • The ability to work in a multi-site environment
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about making sure every one of our guests has a fantastic experience
  • Great organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, delegate and manage duties effectively
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the business and engage your team
  • Strong commercial acumen striving to achieve sales, profits and KPI’s
  • Highly numerate, being able to analyse financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Positive and upbeat with a “can do attitude” and strong work ethic
  • Hardworking and self-motivated, capable of working autonomously when required but also as part of a strong team to deliver Company and Divisional goals
  • Driven to lead, develop and continually improve the business and its people
  • Continually strive for personal, team and business development and performance
