Compassionate Neighbour

The Compassionate Neighbour Programme works by matching local people based on shared likes, experiences and interests. It aims to provide genuine friendship to local people who are socially isolated as well as those living with illness or frailty. It encourages both parties to catch up together, either on the phone or in person, at least once a week. The role requires: offering companionship, emotional support and a listening ear; providing practical support, such as making a cup of tea; helping an isolated community member to stay connected to their friends and the community; directing community members to important support services to help them get through this difficult time.
