Maintenance Engineer (Electricial Bias)

FMCG Environment

Purpose of Role

To maintain plant and equipment to ensure operational efficiency, compliance with food hygiene, health & safety regulations, and minimal downtime.

Key Requirements

Qualifications & Training

  • Relevant engineering qualification
  • Minimum Level 2 Food Safety
  • Completion of all mandatory and site-specific training

Experience & Skills

  • Previous FMCG manufacturing experience (preferred)
  • Understanding of continuous improvement methods
  • Strong fault-finding and root cause analysis skills
  • Accuracy, reliability, and ability to meet job demands

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair plant and equipment to high standards, ensuring minimal disruption
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM), documenting checks and corrective actions
  • Conduct visual inspections on machinery to detect wear, damage, or contamination risk
  • Regularly test and maintain metal detection and failsafe systems
  • Ensure safe use and maintenance of tools, spare parts, and engineering equipment
  • Liaise with management and cross-functional teams regarding breakdowns and maintenance activities
  • Uphold high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, and workshop cleanliness
  • Comply with all food safety, health & safety, and legal standards
  • Support KPIs in quality, safety, environment, yield, and customer service
  • Attend required training and ensure up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g., HACCP, COSHH, H&S Act)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and highlight areas for operational improvement
  • Respect ethical policies and contribute positively to the team culture
