The Opportunity: SEN Tutor in Exeter
Are you passionate about special educational needs and empowering others to make a difference? As a SEN Tutor in Exeter, you will guide adult learners through their qualifications, such as our Level 2 programmes in autism and behaviour that challenges, equipping them with the essential skills to support individuals with SEN. This hybrid teaching role lets you use your expertise to launch fulfilling careers in SEN education while making a tangible impact in your community.

You will teach live online lessons via Zoom and lead in-person sessions in Exeter. You will mentor 60-80 adult learners as they work toward NCFE Level 2. You will deliver training, conduct progress reviews, and give feedback so learners gain the skills for future SEN teaching roles.
What You'll Be Doing: Your Impact as a SEN Tutor
- Deliver Specialised SEN Training:
- Facilitate online and in-person sessions on autism and behaviour that challenges. Prepare lesson content, adapt teaching methods to learner needs, and align sessions with curriculum requirements. Foster a supportive environment that builds learner confidence and practical knowledge for the SEN sector.
- Guide Personalised Learner Journeys:
- You will manage your learner caseload by conducting initial assessments, developing individual learning plans, and providing continuous support to ensure every learner achieves their qualification and career goals in SEN education.
- Champion Safeguarding and Best Practice:
- Accurately track learner progress, update and maintain records in our CRM, and ensure compliance with safeguarding, Prevent, and inclusive teaching policies. Proactively identify and report any concerns, and support a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Enhance SEN Curriculum Quality:
- You will use your sector expertise to develop and update learning resources, ensuring our SEN programmes remain current, effective, and aligned with the latest sector needs and quality frameworks, such as Ofsted.
What You'll Bring (Skills & Experience)
Essential:
- A teaching qualification (e.g., an Award in Education & Training, a Certificate in Education and Training, or a Diploma in Education and Training) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in teaching and mentoring.
- Expertise in understanding support strategies for SEN.
- Level 2 qualifications in English, Maths, and ICT.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a commitment to learner success.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, equality, and diversity in education.
Desirable:
- Experience delivering SEN qualifications (e.g., Understanding Autism or Behaviour that Challenges).
- An assessor qualification (e.g., A1).
- Familiarity with adult learner funding processes and quality frameworks.
