Assistant Management Accountant

FULL DESCRIPTION
This is a varied role providing support to the Senior Management Accountant focusing on product costing, margin analysis and overhead variances. In additional the postholder will provide support to the wider Finance team.
Core Responsibilities
- Product costing, including the following:
- Reviewing inventory costs
- Ensuring labour costs are included within manufactured parts
- Investigating variances / margin analysis
- Support with annual update of inventory costs
- Issue of monthly departmental expenditure reports and assistance with queries
- Overhead variance analysis
- Analysis of time sheets
- Review of deferred income and posting monthly revenue journals
- Set up of new suppliers
- Preparation of BACS payment runs
- Bank reconciliations
- Ad hoc cover for cash and banking including:
- Allocation of customer receipts and supplier payments and maintenance of the cash books
- Processing of employee expenses
- Manage foreign currency prepayment cards
- Review of GRN queries
- Cover for fixed asset accounting
- To provide support to ensure month end reporting is completed in a timely manner
- Assist with external year-end audit
- Assist in other accounting activities or duties as may be reasonably required.
What are we looking for?
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs, grade A*-C (including English & Maths)
- Experience in a Finance department, minimum of 3 years
- A good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience of ERP systems
Desirable:
- Ideally experience in large corporate to understand best practice.
- AAT or equivalent
- A positive, flexible attitude
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines with a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to work with colleagues at all levels
- Discretion and trustworthiness due to frequent contact with confidential material
