To drive a Heavy Goods Vehicle delivering plant and equipment to multiple sites to customers in a safe and timely manner

To drive a Heavy Goods Vehicle delivering plant and equipment to multiple sites to customers in a safe and timely manner

Role and responsibilities

  • Transport plant and equipment to clients sites
  • Supervise the safe loading of plant and equipment and confirm the load is secured
  • Make certain the load is correct against the clients order
  • Deliver plant and equipment in a timely and safe manner with respect for the customer’s property
  • Handle customer issues on delivery effectively
  • Provide a professional image and excellent customer service
  • Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with road law, tachograph law and driver hours limits
  • Look after the vehicle and ensure that it is not subjected to unnecessary damage
  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and complete daily inspection sheet
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle
  • Operate the crane (where applicable) safely and in accordance with the company’s procedures
  • Comply with ‘The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations’ where required
  • Ensure accidents and incidents are kept to a minimum and reported as soon as possible in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure
  • Complete record sheets and paperwork accurately and in a time fashion
  • Attend essential training in order to carry out the driver role
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the company

Qualifications and education requirements

  • Have, or prepared to work towards Class 1 licence
  • Current Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) and HIAB licence is desirable but not essential
