Business Unit: Elsevier Technology – Academic & Government
Reports to: Director of Programme Management
About the Role
We are seeking a versatile and experienced Project Manager to lead critical initiatives in digital transformation and support the onboarding of Elsevier products into our strategic identity platform. The role is split approximately 50/50 between delivering a comprehensive developer portal, infrastructure modernization, and automation projects, and supporting the wider onboarding processes for Elsevier products. The ideal candidate will excel in managing complex projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, and facilitating seamless product integration.
The successful candidate will act as the outcome owner, driving delivery through agile practices and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll be accountable for delivering measurable business value while ensuring robust governance, stakeholder alignment, and seamless integration with Elsevier’s broader technology ecosystem.
About the Project
Customer expectations and the scope of our API platform are continuously expanding at an accelerated pace. To meet these evolving demands and support Elsevier’s strategic initiatives around API and GenAI commercialization, we aim to create new capabilities that empower our teams and customers alike. Our goal is to develop a fast, frictionless self-service developer platform that provides instant, secure access to high-quality APIs, enabling seamless integration and innovation.
To achieve this, we are transitioning from manual workflows to automated, governed self-service processes, ensuring efficiency and consistency. We plan to establish a unified layer that integrates identity management, API management, content delivery, and AI capabilities, creating a cohesive and scalable foundation. Additionally, we will adopt modern gateway technologies, such as MCP and LTS, to enhance reliability and security across our platform.
We are also in the middle of transforming our identity space within Elsevier, moving our diverse product base from individual security controls per platform to a centralized standard Elsevier ID. This will enable customers to move seamlessly between systems, as well as provide tighter governance and control over access to both Elsevier and our customers who use our platforms
