We are scaling rapidly, driven by innovation with strong customer demand and a clear strategic roadmap for growth. With expansion plans underway, and increasing investor interest, we are seeking a highly capable and motivated Head of Finance to lead the financial function.

This role offers a unique opportunity to be both strategic and hands-on building robust financial systems, shaping commercial strategy, and executing the daily financial operations of a dynamic, scaling business that is preparing for future investment or potential sale.

Job Summary:

As the Head of Finance, you will be the sole finance professional responsible for the full spectrum of financial management from day-to-day bookkeeping and cashflow oversight, through to strategic forecasting, investment readiness, and board-level reporting.

This role requires someone who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to manage transactions, reconciliations, and month-end close as they are presenting financial insights to the CEO and Board. You will provide financial leadership across the business, ensure robust financial control, and drive commercial decision-making as the company scales.

Key Responsibilities:

*Strategic Financial Leadership*

  • · Partner with the CEO and senior leadership team to provide data-driven insights and financial modelling to support decision-making.
  • · Produce and present accurate monthly management accounts, cashflow forecasts, and board packs.
  • · Support business planning, scenario analysis, and growth forecasting, including potential exit or investment planning.

*Hands-On Financial Operations*

  • · Manage all day-to-day financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in every transaction.
  • · Take ownership of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking, VAT, and month-end processes, maintaining accurate ledgers and reconciliations.
  • · Process supplier invoices, raise sales invoices, manage payment runs, and ensure timely collection of receivables.
  • · Oversee and improve cashflow management, ensuring adequate working capital and financial stability.
  • · Prepare and submit statutory filings, including VAT returns, PAYE, and corporation tax (with support from external advisors as needed).
  • · Manage relationships with accountants, auditors, and HMRC.
  • · Maintain the finance systems and ensure data integrity across accounting software and reporting tools.
  • · Continuously review and refine processes to create efficient, scalable financial operations.

*Commercial & Business Partnering*

  • · Provide financial input and challenge to commercial initiatives, product pricing, and contract negotiations.
  • · Build financial models and business cases for new products, partnerships, and growth initiatives.
  • · Deliver insight into cost control, margin optimisation, and performance improvement opportunities.
  • · Partner with operational leaders to embed financial awareness and accountability across the business.

*Investor & Transaction Readiness*

  • · Lead financial due diligence preparation and support potential fundraising, acquisition, or sale processes.
  • · Prepare and maintain investor data, financial models, and key documentation for prospective partners.
  • · Work closely with legal and corporate finance advisors to ensure smooth transaction execution.

*Future Team Development*

  • · Establish the foundation for a future finance team as the business grows, including potential recruitment and mentoring of junior finance staff.
  • · Develop scalable systems, policies, and procedures to support future expansion and reporting needs.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

*Essential Skills & Experience*

  • · Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with strong post-qualification experience.
  • · Proven track record in managing both operational and strategic finance within a high-growth or start-up environment.
  • · Demonstrable experience handling day-to-day financial transactions including payroll, invoicing, reconciliations, VAT, and management accounts.
  • · Commercially astute, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insight.
  • · Hands-on and self-sufficient, capable of operating as a one-person finance function in a fast-paced environment.
  • · Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining financial accuracy and control.
  • · Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Xero) and advanced Excel modelling.
  • · Strong communication and influencing skills, able to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

*Desirable Attributes*

  • · Previous experience in a technology, SaaS, or digital business.
  • · Experience in preparing for investment, M&A, or due diligence processes.
  • · Exposure to private equity or venture capital-backed environments.
  • · Experience implementing or optimising accounting and reporting systems.
  • · Entrepreneurial mindset, with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to challenges.

Why Join Us?

  • · Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • · Opportunity to build and shape the finance function from the ground up.
  • · Exposure to board-level decision-making and future transaction events.
  • · A collaborative, innovative, and fast-moving culture with genuine influence over business growth.
