We are delighted to invite applications for the position of Teacher of French and Spanish at our school in Colchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Modern Foreign Languages specialist to join a thriving department and play a key role in delivering high-quality language education. The successful candidate will be passionate about languages, culture, and communication, and will have the ability to inspire students of all abilities to develop confidence and curiosity in French and Spanish.
About the Role
- Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons in French and Spanish across Key Stages 3, 4 and/or 5.
- Plan, prepare, and adapt lessons to meet the needs of all learners.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to promote active participation, progress, and enjoyment of language learning.
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
- Support students in developing linguistic skills as well as cultural awareness.
- Contribute to curriculum development within the MFL department.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom practice.
- Take part in enrichment activities, trips, or language-related events where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Has strong subject knowledge in both French and Spanish.
- Is an effective and reflective classroom practitioner.
- Demonstrates excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Has high expectations for student achievement and behaviour.
- Is committed to inclusive teaching and safeguarding practices.
- Works well as part of a team and contributes positively to school life.
