FULL DESCRIPTION

We’re partnered with a leading R&D Tax consultancy in the search for a Senior R&D Tax Technical Consultant - Civil & Construction to support their growing Consultancy team in London. This role is perfect for someone with a strong technical background and a knack for translating innovation into tangible outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the preparation of robust and detailed R&D technical reports, ensuring claims are fully compliant with regulatory standards and optimised for client benefit.
  • Conduct high-level technical meetings with stakeholders ranging from project engineers to C-suite executives, accurately identifying and documenting eligible R&D activities.
  • Analyse engineering and innovation projects in detail, assessing their eligibility for R&D tax relief and articulating the technical advancements achieved.
  • Oversee the full claims process, managing timelines, deliverables, and client communications to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Represent clients during HMRC enquiries, ensuring claims are defended with technical accuracy and compliance rigor.
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes and industry practices in R&D tax incentives, providing thought leadership internally and externally.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in the R&D tax consultancy sector, with demonstrable success in preparing and managing claims.
  • Ability to evaluate complex engineering projects, extract key technical details, and translate them into clear, structured narratives.
  • Ability to take ownership of client portfolios, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and mentor junior consultants where required.
  • Familiarity with DSIT Guidelines, CIRD (Corporate Intangibles Research and Development Manual), and current HMRC enquiry practices.
