FULL DESCRIPTION

The role of a Senior Care Assistant is to supervise a team of Care Assistants, create person-centred care plans, risk assessments, and deliver a high level of quality care to individuals that enables them to live as independently as possible. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, organisation skills, compassion, understanding and an ability to communicate with individuals at all levels. This role is best suited to someone with some previous experience or a relevant qualification.

Typical duties may include:

  • Creating person-centred care plans and risk assessments
  • Completion and monitoring of MAR sheets
  • Completion and monitoring of daily care notes
  • Supporting individuals to attend appointments
  • Supporting individuals to access the community, attend classes/hobbies, meet friends, go shopping etc.
  • Encouraging independence
  • Medication administration and recording
  • Nutritionalsupport and meal preparation
  • Household duties
  • Assisting with personal care needs (washing, bathing, dressing, oral care, toileting etc.)
  • Assistance with mobility (use of hoist, standing aids etc.)
  • Companionship
  • Safeguarding and ensuring a high level of wellbeing
  • Effectively communicating with colleagues, Management, individuals families and third-party professionals

The ideal Senior Healthcare Assistant will:

  • Have some previous experience in the health and social care sector or a sector-specific qualification
  • Lead by example
  • Consider the needs and wishes of individuals
  • Have a passion for supporting people to live a fulfilled life
  • Be willing to undergo training and development
  • Have excellent people skills
  • Be a good communicator
