FULL DESCRIPTION

The role of a Care Assistant means making a positive difference in someones life. The role is typically varied and tailored to suit the needs of the individual you support. This makes for an exciting role, best suited to people who enjoy empowering others to lead a meaningful and fulfilled life. Care Assistants should have a genuine interest in supporting people. You should be able to provide high-quality care and support as well as excellent interpersonal skills.

Typical duties may include:

  • Supporting individuals to attend appointments
  • Supporting individuals to access the community, attend classes/hobbies, meet friends, go shopping etc.
  • Encouraging independence
  • Medication administration and recording
  • Nutritional support and meal preparation
  • Household duties
  • Assistance with personal care needs (washing, bathing, dressing, oral care, toileting etc.)
  • Assistance with mobility (use of hoist, standing aids etc.)
  • Companionship
  • Safeguarding and ensuring a high standard of wellbeing
