Due to the continuing popularity of the Sidings First Class café carriage we are looking to recruit an energertic chef that loves to cook with the best ingredients. We offer an a la carte brunch style menu opening between 9am - 4pm, 7 days per week. There is flexibility with rotas for 2 days offer per week and with occasional evening work for our special events. The right candidate will be confident in cooking to order and be excited to use fresh produce from our very own kitchen garden.

About The Role

In this role, you will be:

  • Setting up the kitchen prior to opening.
  • Ensure adequacy of supplies at the cooking stations.
  • Prepare ingredients that should be frequently available.
  • As food orders come into the kitchen start preparing the portions of the order in your section.
  • Control and manage stock.
  • Wrapping unused items and storing them in proper areas at the end of the shift.
  • Cleaning the kitchen before the restaurant closes.
  • Enforces strict health and hygiene standards.

About You

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Previous experience in a Commis or Chef de Partie role.
  • Proven experience in prep and culinary skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Proven excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and processes.
  • Ability to multi tasks and work efficiently under pressure in a fast paced environment.
  • Knowledge of best cooking practices.
  • Proven organisational skills.
  • Proven listening and communication skills as well as written skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new recipes and new cooking procedures.
  • Proven effective time management skills.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly.
  • Food Hygiene certificate.
  • Ability to be flexible with working hours.
